Dogs available for adoption or fostering
Download our application form
Welcome to our adoption page! Please click here to view our adoption procedures and guidelines. We take these steps to ensure the prospective owner and the dog are compatible. Please call us at 707-567-2560 if you are interested in adopting or fostering any of these dogs. more...
1. Completed application form. Download our application form here to complete the first step towards your adoption. Bring your completed applicattion with you when we meet with you in step 2 below.
2. We set up a date to meet. We preferably bring the dog to adoption day (Dog Adoptions are every Saturday 4:30-6:30 at Vallejo Petco 161 Plaza Drive, Vallejo, CA 94591 – 707.649.8081, and every 2nd and 4th Saturdays, 1:00-3:00pm at Pet Food Express Benicia) and introduce the dog and the interested persons. Also, we if the person already has a dog we ask that they be introduced at the adoption as it is a neutral zone for both the dog for adoption and the interested persons’ dog.
3. House Checks. If the introduction is successful we set-up a house visit to make sure the home is adequate for the dog including the type and size of yard etc. We do this to make sure the dogs are going to be safe in their new atmosphere. For example: some of our dogs are escape artists and they need a yard with adequate fencing etc.
4. Adoption Fees. If the dog is to be adopted we require an adoption fee.
- Adult dogs: $200
Senior dogs: $100-150 Purebreds and puppies: $275
The fee can be collected in payments if it is not possible to pay the fee in full. The fee stands because we spay and neuter all our dogs before adopting them out and pay for other expenses while they are in the rescue.
After the dog is adopted. We prodvide the following:
Two week grace period. Once a dog has been adopted we have a 2 week grace period in which you can see if the dog fits in your home.
Post-adoption home visits. We take our responsibilities very seriously when it comes to our dogs, so we will continue to do welfare checks periodically to update our records, and we reserve the right to take a dog back at any time if we have serious concerns about them.
We are available for however long adopting families need us. We will stand by the dogs forever but in return we require that we be notified IMMEDIATELY any time there's a change of address, any time the dog is seriously ill, or if the dog runs away. We can provide names of trainers and give tips on training.

email us about Angel
We realize that "Angel" (2 yr old black lab / pitx / 60 lbs) is just one of countless dogs waiting expectantly to find their next home. Honestly, the last thing we needed was yet another dog dropped in our laps when we were filled to the brim w/dogs and were near exhaustion but there is something intangible about her that makes us really want to help her, maybe because no one else would. In fact, she ended up in 3 different shelters so of course we had to rescue her 3 different times. more...
It has gotten us into trouble but we knew she didn't have anyone else willing to go to bat for her. So, that's how she has come to grace our lives. We first got a call about a dog someone found but couldn't keep her. So she ended up @ the pound the 1st time. Then we got a hysterical call from the same person when they found out she was going to be PTS. We got about 10 calls that day demanding we help get her out and she swore to us she would take full & complete responsibility of the dog from now. So with the help of pitbull rescue we got her out. Yay. We congratulated ourselves and thought that was the end of that. But that would, of course, be too easy. Much to our (unpleasant) surprise and despite countless hours, visits, and phone calls to salvage this home, all attempts failed and she ended up getting dumped 2 more times @ 2 different shelters (as far away as Lake County). At this point we felt a moral responsibity to step in.
Anyway, enough about us. The shelter heard she might not be so good around dogs? But check out the pic? Pitbull rescue has worked w/her on positive but firm correction and she has been thriving and peacefully co-existing with many others of her kind. So much for that theory. She's friendly, quiet, playful, house-broken, crate-trained & non-destructive but when you look in those big brown eyes she still seems a little lost so we are going to bring her to Adoption Days.

email us about Arabella
Miss Arabella is definitely a friendly, sweet and gentle soul. She would make someone a wonderful "soul" mate and constant companion and lap dog! She is the epitome of unconditional love. She is soft, sensitive, submissive, soft captivating eyes, relaxed for all handling, can be shy at first with strangers and selective about doggie friends! Arabella is a 3 year old female, spayed Pit bull mix weighing about 50 lbs.

email us about Bleu, Willie and Sleepy
Bleu, Willie and Sleepy are special need albinos: aussie/queensland heeler mix with blue eyes and beautiful white coats. They are only about 2 months old. They have various disabilities from partial blindness to partial deafness. They suffered from exposure being left outside w/no shelter when they were 1st born. more...
Because they are so fair, it affected their eyes and albino's often have problems w/hearing. However don't be afraid because they can still see again w/surgery performed while being spayed /neutured but they must become inside dogs because they are so fair they are susceptible to skin cancer.
Blue: He's a very playful puppy. He gets along with other animals: dogs, cats, chickens, . He can see but there's a possibility he could be deaf. He is not currently potty trained.
Willy: is blind in one eye, and he is most likely deaf. That doesn't stop him though . He is a very active boy.He seems to do just fine with one eye. He loves to play.He is not currently potty trained. He gets along with other animals dogs, cats, birds etc.
Sleepy: We are pretty sure this little guy is mostly blind and also deaf. He smells his way around. He is a very sweet boy and loves to play. He is not currently potty trained.
p.s. A note on special needs dogs: they actually do much better w/disabilities then humans do. To them it's not anything abnormal or they can't handle. They live their lives mostly like normal puppies do. The main thing is they usually can't be off leash.

email us about Cammie
Cammie, 9 month old female pitbull puppy, approx 45lbs (very nice petite size), housebroken, good w/dogs, good w/kids, but she's a cat chaser. She is the most beautiful color that reminds me of Champaigne. She came to us @ the last minute from the Merced shelter. What a pleasant surprise. She was already spayed and current on shots, everything. She's been staying as a guest in our house for several weeks, it's a pleasure to have her, and we've been very impressed.more...
She's one of those dogs that can easily go to a dog park, is very good w/other dogs and is gentle w/children of all ages. She is playful and friendly, but on the quiet side, she's not in any way pushy or reactive. She's very polite, mild mannered, docile & well-behaved. She rarely barks, and when she does it's more of a soft whine, it's not very loud. She loves to play with all my dogs but she also is content to hang out by herself. It's been quite easy to start getting her crate-trained but she prefers to be outside where she can sun-bathe, so she has a pet door. She's not destructive, is learning sit and will lie down on her petbed if you give her a bone or treat. And she loves KONGS. That's one of her favorite toys.
She does jump up when she's excited to see you and pulls on the leash but she's @ the right age for obedience training. She's low maintenance & a joy to have around.
I encourage people to come meet her @ Vallejo Petco Saturday's from 4:30 - 6:30pm

Chase is an utterly gorgeous 1 yr old husky / white shep X. He is a very bright-star who has brightened up our world. He deserves all the admiration he gets when he's out in public. It makes one proud to be walking by his side. He's from the Lake County shelter where he almost got adopted but they never returned to get him (much to their loss). We couldn't let a creature so dignified & majestic fall through the proverbial cracks. He is in good health, sweet and an incredibly playful kind of guy. He's still a big puppy and will need appropriate training but appears to really like people, is not jumpy or pushy, doesn't pull too much on the leash and has become house-broken. more...
He readily rolls on his back for tummy rubs. He's quiet & mild-mannered but don't let that fool you as he is an alert watch dog (that's the shep part. No one will mess with you if he's around.) He's the outdoorsy type: loves to run, hike and go along for bike rides. Also has passed the dog park test where he's well-behaved and non-reactive even w/the pushy dogs. He loves playing around and would do well in a home w/multiple dogs but probably no cats. And we have just discovered he's tolerant of chickens and horses.
He is a very recent rescue but we are learning more about him every day and it's all good, the only trouble spot is some barking from separation anxiety. He has been a very gracious guest and we are delighted to have him included in our "Any" Dog Pack.

email us about Chopper and Roxy
These dogs need a foster URGENTLY
Unfortunately their owner is terminally ill and has no choice but to surrender these precious dolls to Any Dog Rescue at the end of the month. They have been loved very much and this will probably crush their owner's heart as you can tell they know they are loved. more...
While being boarded at a dog kennel in Brentwood from 2/08 - 5/08 you would find the two of them being foster parents to rescues who were two male pugs. Chopper and Roxy were raised with little dogs and are very gentle and protective. Chopper has a look that says please love me and Roxy tries to hog all the attention, she is pushy! Both of them love to ride in the car, so they would be up for some ROAD TRIPS!
Chopper, red nose/brindle, w/captivating eyes, had been mistreated as a puppy! His owner rescued him at 6 months. He is cautious with men at first; but once he gets to know you he is a character. He loves little dogs and was a wonderful father to Roxy's puppies.
Roxy, is a blue nose, dark brown and white, weight (we won't talk about, she loves to eat) is a lover and just wants to please. She is a "water" dog who loves to swim and play in the river where Chopper runs for dear life (he almost drowned in his puppy years). Roxy is very out going where as Chopper is more mellow. The kennel workers were cautious of them until they got to know them and still ask how they are as they captured all the visitors hearts.

email us about Cody
Cody needs help urgently due to his needed medicine costing over $140 a month. His trainer/foster (recently had brain surgery and is struggling financially) will have to euthanize him due to not having the funds to care for his needs. Cody needs his medicine by 2/18/09. He is a very sweet dog and because of his special needs he may lose his life unless someone can sponsor him or adopt him. more...
If you have any idea for him getting his medicine or know someone who will sponsor him, please contact us ASAP.
My name is Cody and I am a 3 year old, Male, neutered English Pointer. I am GRRREAAT in the house! I have been in my foster home for over 4 months now, and have fully proven I can be completely trusted loose inside; day or night, alone or with company! I don’t chew anything I shouldn't, and I respect the furniture, too, only getting on it when invited.
All I need are my own toys, and I am perfectly happy, though playing with my people is definitely a priority! I guess I'm not perfect, though…I do cry for the first few minutes when left alone, and HATE being left alone outside…I was pretty spoiled by my first family and still have to learn some self-confidence.
Going for walks and rides in the car are the highlights of my life, and my foster mom takes me with her to a doggy-daycare she works at, where I love to meet and play with all the dogs of all sizes and personalities…It doesn't matter to me if the other dogs are dominant, pushy or really submissive, I love them all! I even love the cats and the pet sheep, too!!
My biggest problem is not my fault, though…I do have health issues that, while not expensive to treat, do require regular care. To better know about my disease, and if I could make your life better, check out the link at: www.addisondogs.com/addisons/whatis.html I hope this small part of me doesn't turn you away, cuz I am a GREAT dog and really do deserve a home, and people, all my own!! I would make you smile everyday!!

email us about Cupid and Luca
Luca & Cupid are twin rat terrier boys (1 1/2 yrs old) . They were born on 4th of July in 2007 (an auspicious beginning). Their mother Kiara was rescued off a dangerous country road while these two little angels were not yet born. They were all lucky to end up w/a responsible rescuer that has seen Kiara through her pregnancy and kept them all safe and sound. The boys are white with black & brown markings and drop down button ears. more...
They have been together since birth and would only be adopted together. They are feisty & adorable, & bring much love & laughter. They deserve the best possible lives with the best possible parents.
Luca is the oldest by a half hour and he came into this world quiet & sedate. While he is small he is very sturdy, his square-jaw gives him the face of a sweet little rottweiler. He is more laidback & gentle than his little brother though he is the first to be wary, often running to hide behind familiar legs. He is extremely affectionate, almost to a fault as the older dogs can barely walk by without his endless kisses. He finds joy in play fighting with his brother Cupid, the wild child.
Cupid was born smiling. He is outgoing & much more curious & fearless than his twin. He speaks with barks & is nothing if not a consistent talker. He is affectionate as well, and loves to be "hug-a-bug". His beauty is the cherub face of a little girl. His behavior, though, is all boy.
Due to their high intelligence and low attention span, they need some work on their behavior. Like all little ones, the boys often pick up everything just to see whether or not it tastes good. They have been exposed to other animals but are a bit excitable & so it's not always well-received. Mostly, these pups are a gem and would brighten anyones lives.

email us about Damita
Damita is a 2 yr old Blonde labx 50 lbs. Quiet (I've only heard her bark a few times). Fun-loving (loves treats and to run around in the yard & play ball) Loves people (she's affectionate but doesn't need constant attention). Very self-sufficient (can be left @ home all day with out getting into trouble) Excellent w/other dogs (she will go right up to any dog and be really nice). No cats (she won't hurt them but she will chase them.) more...
Child safe: but is jumpy, so at least 10 yrs old. Favorite thing: going for walks (she's not very big but she's a little powerhouse, needs basic leash training and a Sensation Harness.)
She & her brother Magic have been much beloved & cherished by their family, they've had them since they were puppies (6-8 weeks) but the family has gone through a divorce, the wife didn't wish to keep them and the husband wants to keep them but can't (he moved into an apt as that's all he could afford after the divorce.) They've been staying @ his mom's house out in the backyard / side of the house. Unfortunately this won't be their home much longer either as she has to move by end of June. I visit them several times a week and each & every time I am greeted by their most cheerful demeanor which hasn't failed them yet in spite of their circumstances. We know it's highly un-likely they will be able to stay together but it would be nice if they each can go to a home where there will at least be other dogs around to help keep them company. I know they will win your heart as they have won mine.

email us about Dante
Dante (1 yr old cattle dog / dingo / pit x something mix!) He's a smorgasboard! Sadly, we think someone tried to make him into a pittbull by doing a botched "home job" on his ears. But to us it adds to his character and makes us love him all the more and adds to our determination to make sure he NEVER ever ends up in the wrong hands again. We would rather keep him forever then to allow anything bad to happen to him!
Hopefully we won't have to as he doesn't show any major signs of trauma and is a completely different dog then when he was first rescued! He was skittish & timid but is now the life of the party! He bubbles over with enthusiasm & effervescence, & non-stop affection!
He will lick you silly so you have to kindly but firmly say "Stop". And then he does! He loves & adores other dogs, I think they bring out the best in him and allow his playful side to emerge so best for him to go to a home w/plenty of doggie friends!
Dante is crate trained and house broken, non-destructive, very responsive to training and correction, but please keep it positive as he is a sensitive soul! The reason we think he's part cattle dog is he can let out a howl or 2 as if he were out in the out-back! And he needs to learn some manners as he will jump jump jump on you! But it's all in fun & games! And of course he probably never had a day of training in his life so needs to learn how to walk calmly on a leash! And don't expect alot of photo opps, he's very camera shy and sits down the minute he sees a camera!
The person who comes forward to adopt this dog will be a sensitive soul seeking a true & loyal soul-mate! Let us know if that's going to be you?

email us about Freddie
Freddie (approx. 5 year old mystery mix), not totally pit bull but not American Bull Dog either. It really doesn't
matter when he looks at you with his big brown eyes! You can't help but fall in love with this fella.
He's a beautiful pure white with a clean well manicured coat!
He was rescued from the SFACC, everyone thought he was deaf but guess what? He's not!
If he seems shy at first don't let that fool you, he's a spunky fellow and will rear up on his hind legs
like a pony when he's ready to start play time in serious! And when he's especially happy he will let out a friendly howl to let you know!
Conversely he knows it when he's in trouble and will go lie down on his petbed and pout
or excuses himself to another room to hide.. But you can't stay mad at him for long when he keeps staring at you with those mesmerizing eyes!
His good points are: Friendliness, lovable, lap dog, quiet except when he's happy, crate trained, house broken, well-mannered in
the house (he was definitely an inside dog), likes other dogs, both boys and girls and will play, play, play but can be a little bossy
and he doesn't like it if they get right in his face then he does a quirky warning snap. Is responsive to correction and does what he
can to obey. Loves treats and knows sit & lie down, excellent in the car, decent on leash, is strong but doesn't pull too much!
He has been a pleasant house guest and we will miss him when he goes to his next forever home! We are waiting to see who that lucky person will be?

email us about Gigi
Hi my name is GiGi. I am currently 2 years old female, Pit-bull mix, my coloring is what is called brindle. I was built for speed and playing. I am very attentive to things and people around me. I have been altered and up to date on all my shots. I like to play with kids and adults after I get to know them. I like most dogs and cats. I am learning to walk on a leash and to mind my manners. I would like a family that will love me, play with me, run with me and take good care of me. When I came into foster care I had been neglected I was nothing but skin and bones as you can see by my pictures I have filled out since. more...
I am now full of energy and willing to go. When I meet people for the first time take it nice and slow I will eventually warm up to you as soon as I see that you mean me to harm.

email us about Hansel
I'm handsome "Hansel" (9 month old Dalmation / Pitpull )I recently lost my home in Benicia when my beloved family moved from a house into an apt. Fortunately I am a really good boy so I have found a safe foster home w/Any Dog Rescue. I'm super friendly, well-behaved and obedient, easy to take care of because I'm quiet (I only bark when there are strangers around). I'm house-broken and crate-trained. more...
While I'm almost perfect I do still have puppy energy and need to work on jumping up on people, it's just because I'm happy and excited to see them. I love playing w/all the dogs @ my foster mom's house, and they love playing w/me. I'm ok around cats too. I was raised w/children so I have proven that I'm a good family dog. And an excellent dog park candidate. I'm very adaptable and will easily adjust to a new family as I love people. I'm an all around good guy looking for an all around good home.

email us about Litsa
Litsa and Tiger were a family (they had at least a couple of litters until we managed to work w/the family to get everyone spayed/neutured). All were unfortunately backyard dogs in Antioch. In spite of being neglected, they have the friendliest temperaments at whenever we would come over, were never territorial, we would always be greeted w/the warmest of welcomes. more...
Litsa (6 1/2 yrs) the mom, has been in a very good foster home and it must be a relief for her after years of being a backyard dog and at least a couple of litters. They find she is very mellow, affectionate, low maintenance, not too high energy, easy to handle, very quiet & well-behaved, non-destructive and independent so would be ok if family has to work. She's now housebroken, and has been through basic obedience training at the county shelter! She would love to be included as part of a family (but older children preferred)! Good on leash and easy to walk but can react sometimes to other strange dogs but has been tolerant of the dogs at her current place.
The whole family ended up in rescue because they somehow managed to keep getting out of their yard (imagine that!) and after one too many escapes the shelter was upset and imposed high fines so the family finally decided to give up. Most of the dogs were being held for euthanasia and were hours away from being PTS but with everyones help and much negotiaion they were all finally released to rescue at the last minute! We didn't want to see them separated but the puppies were adopted first (of course) and recently, Tiger was adopted, but sweet Litsa is still waiting for a forever home

email us about Lucky
Lucky is a very sweet puppy. He's only about 4 months old. He has a super great disposition. He gets along with other animals such as cats, other dogs, a pot belly pig and a goat. He is harness trained, but will require puppy training and he gets a little grouchy if another dog tries to take his food (he will chase them away ) but this is normal for a dog whose been stray and doesn't know where his next meal is coming from. It is trainable. more...
He does very well in the house. Most of the time he sits on the couch with us. He's quiet & he is not destructive with our things. He only chews on bully sticks. He is in the process of potty training. He potties on a pee pad. He sleeps in the laundry room with one other pup. When we go out he has his buddy Marshall and toys. He loves chasing balls and sometimes even brings it back to you. He is a happy and very playful puppy. Fortunately he's is in a very good foster home and we are learning more about him every day. |

email us about Lulu
Lulu is a most fetching girl who pitter-patters on her tippy toes with joy, like a ballerina on pointe, when she sees you coming
toward her kennel. She will then greet you with a warm hug around the waist and will dance with excitement at the
prospect of going for a walk with one of her biggest fans. Once outside, Lulu holds her head high and
walks with a most dignified gait. Lulu likes to meet new people and will stop to oblige
admiring passersby along the way. She seems interested in meeting other dogs her size,
but there is no doubting a prey drive, as evidenced by her reaction to sighting small
dogs. Consequently, Lulu should not be in a home with small dogs or cats and should never
ever be off-leash in public space. This pooch takes correction well, like a good pittie
and has been a regular student in BadRap training classes. Come meet this pretty girl blue, and see whether she is the right fit for you.
Here's her story from the Berkeley Shelter:
I first saw Lulu late one Sunday afternoon driving home from the shelter. She was running through traffic on Dwight, just off San Pablo. Another car and I followed her and tried to catch her, but she kept running. It took almost all day but eventually we caught up w/her
Her feet were bruised and her legs had some scabs, but she was otherwise in good health. We gave her a kennel with afternoon sun, some food, a Kuranda, and a blanket. She leaned up closely against Karen who went to sit with her in the kennel, as though breathing a sigh of relief and gratitude.
I love Lulu for her independent streak, for her utter confidence, for her willingness to make herself just a little bit vulnerable when I hold her and give her hugs. Eliciting a kiss from Lulu is not easy, and when she bestows one on my cheek, I feel very fortunate, as though I have passed the test of being trustworthy and allowing her to have her dignity. Over time, she has come to respect me, too. She no longer pulls me down the park pathways, but responds to my lead instead. We have taught each other much these past four months-- she has helped me to become a better, more patient handler, and I have let her know that the world can be a good place, where people will love you and treat you well, show you tenderness and keep you safe.

email us about Malie
Meet Malie, a small-sized, reddish-brown and white pit bull beauty, a year old (an April pup, 2008), approximately 32 lbs. She is spayed and vaccinated. She possesses all of the breed's best traits: affectionate, loving, funny, silly, energetic, smart as a whip, crazy to please, just all-around delightful and cheerful. Loves swimming! Sleeps in the bed. No food aggression. No toy possession aggression. Loves chewies, toys, and bones. Plays tag. Walks on a harness nicely. Bathes easily. Rides in cars. Plays with children and adults beautifully. Barks when strangers come on property. . more...
Does not dig. Eats well, lovely appetite. Sits when asked. Comes when called. If given the opportunity, like many a dog, will chase small animals, but has not caught one yet. Will play enthusiastically with older dogs with whom she lives now. DOES require training to harness some of that abundant energy and arousal level. She will nip at muzzles of her playmates when too excited. Introduce a strange dog to Malie slowly and carefully. She might be reactive and present an overly zealous introductory greeting to an unfamiliar dog. In short, because of her desire to please, she would do fantastically in training.
She adores people, very squirmy and licky, tail-wagging-happy—the usual pit bull love of life. Three months ago, Malie ate a small amount of Gorilla Glue (see pictures), which caused a mass in her stomach. It’s fatal if not removed. She is completely recovered now after major abdominal surgery. Teen-agers, "Friends of Malie," rallied on Facebook, and collected and raised money for her rescue and surgery.

email us about Mocha
Meet Mocha, a small 10-pound Chihuahua mix, approximately 8 years old. Mocha was abused as a puppy and was rescued with broken
ribs and a broken leg. She has some unpredictability due to this early trauma, such as not liking loud sudden noises or
being touched unexpectantly. But Mocha has a hugely loving personality, adores the people she knows
and warms up very quickly to strangers. She loves laps and will even sit on strangers’ laps.
Mocha relishes sleeping on pillows, sometimes even inside the pillowcase. She delights in
receiving attention and even fancies showing off her talent of sitting upright on her
back legs and begging by putting her two front paws together.
Mocha's best friend is a stuffed elephant. She LOVES hikes.
She loves licking legs and the edge of the bathtub after
someone showers. She gets along really well with other
dogs and cats and is current on her Rabies vaccine.
She has even had a dental cleaning last year. Mocha will do best in a home without small children. Older children are fine. Will you be her new forever family?

email us about Morgan
Morgan (approx 5 yr old boxer/hound X: 75 lbs) Her strongest suit is she's an excellent family dog, raised with small children and a small Shitzu! She is as sweet as can be, affectionate, polite, unassuming, low key, quiet (rarely barks), non-destructive, not demanding of attention BUT will be a huge lap dog if you let her.
Very independent (she would be good for a family that works), she's used to being "on her own" without getting whiny or separation anxiety! She does quite well in the house and is now house-broken even though she's been outside most of her life! more...
She is excellent w/children and lets kids crawl all over her without batting an eye! She's also good with small dogs & puppies but not so good w/other large adult dogs! She warms up eventually as long as she is allowed to be the the dominant one, and has learned to be around other dogs as long as you keep her in the leave it mode and they don't come up on her suddenly. Adjusts to other cats in the house once they stop running away.
She's athletic, the "quiet, outdoorsy type", loves to get her exercise, to run and play ball (well, she can't be counted on to bring it back!) Her "favoritest" thing in the world is going out for walks but because she's lived most of her life in a kennel there's a couple impediments 1) She doesn't know her own strength and she pulls as if she were a pitbull 2) She doesn't do so well around other dogs "on the street" and will get reactive which scares people @ dogs away. Soooo, obedience classes and leash training are a "must". Our trainers have worked w/her and says she is quite responsive so we would like to see her finally get the "socialization" she's been deprived of most of her life!
Her story: Her owner rescued her from a bad home but unfortunately ended up in a wheel-chair thus Morgan landed in an outdoor 6 X 10 ft kennel where she has spent most of her adult life! She is quite strong so he couldn't physically take her out anymore so she was confined almost 24 x 7. The only time she got out was when her neigbors came over for play time, a walk now and then, and a few treats! Not the best quality of life for an active hunting breed but nor did the family want to see her surrendered to a shelter. Thank heavens the neighbor had the sense to call us. Questions are welcomed!

email us about Nina
A small dog we are calling "Nina" has showed up on one of our neighbors doorsteps. We are attempting to find her home but in the meantime she's in a short-term foster home with a family.
That's how we know she is so good with children! They would love to keep her but aren't allowed to have dogs. Nina is about 5 months old, 30 lbs. She is well-behaved, house-broken and
loves to play with toys.
Nina is a bit timid when she meets new people but she warms up quickly. She also appears to be under socialized with other dogs. We think she just needs someone to
introduce her slowly so she can appreciate the joys of playing with other dogs. Like all young dogs she will need a guardian who provides training
and affection so she can grow up to be a good canine citizen. Nina deserves that chance!

email us about Peter and Pumpkin
Peter and Pumkin's age is approx 5 yrs. They were both full grown when the family first got them 4 years ago, from a well-known rescue group. They love to lay on blankets, to take naps together and to go for walks! They get compliments everywhere they go. They are foreclosure orphans and they have already lost their home so we don't want them to also lose each other! That's why we wish to see them get adopted together! more...
They are EXCELLENT w/children also dog and cat tolerant. Housebroken, completely crate trained (they share a crate, it's very cute). They can both be walked together or separately. Generally she's quiet and he's the barky one, but when they see other dogs they both can raise a fuss! Howevever much to our surpise they are becoming very good dog park dogs!
Peter will constantly lick your face once he gets to know you. He also loves to lay in your lap and he burrows in any blanket that you wrap around yourself. He barks at anyone who walks into the front door, and makes a great watch dog. He is neutered.
Pumpkin is very, very lovable and loves people. She likes to sit in laps and have her belly rubbed, likes to fall asleep on the bed, and has a spot behind both her ears that she loves to have scratched. She likes to be held but will squirm a little if she wants down. When she needs to go to the bathroom she'll stand by the backdoor, or if she simply wants to lay in her crate she'll stand by it. She is also spayed.
They are a dynamic duo with never be a dull moment!

email us about Panda Bear
Pandy Bear is an adult female pit bull terrier, and has been evaluated by the SPCA as being completely friendly and playful. Her eyes are gem-like! One is "Pandy Bear" blue thus her name and the other is a light sea-green. She is exuberant at times and loves to play "catch me if you can" as she runs you around in circles. She loves to play ball but is not fussy: it can be a tennis ball, an apple or a lemon (which gives her really fresh lemon-breath)! more...
She is a deaf-albino but we think she can hear sometimes! Especially if you have treats then she really pays attention. You really can't tell she's hard of hearing because she's so bright in other ways. In some ways it's actually easier: she doesn't hear all the other dogs barking @ her while out on her walks, she stays calm and easy to manage (until she see's a cat or squirrels but is that any different than any other dog)! We would of course like to see her be w/someone that will give her the special training that she needs. She knows sit and lie down, and responds quickly to a special flash-light for night time. Pandy Bear is spayed, crate-trained, and up-to-date on shots. Because she is hard of hearing she can't be controlled like other dogs (she can't always hear you) so we think it best to find a one dog only home, and she does have prey instinct so no small animals or cats! She is lovely and has a unique beauty, and she deserves a special home!

email us about pippin
Pippin is being placed up for adoption by his home, here's the story:
He was rescued from the Long Beach Animal Shelter last June by the rescue group that I worked with before moving to the Bay Area. He's approximately 18 mos. old, 15 lbs, neutered, and up to date with vaccinations. He understands basic obedience training (sit, stay, down, roll-over) is good with kids (though he gets very excited and can jump on them) and confident, dog-friendly and loves cats (as you can see in the pictures). He would do great with another dog, as he gets separation anxiety if left alone without his human or dog pack. He has an 'exuberant personality', loves to chase squeaky, soft balls and is not bad on the leash.
His 'challenges' are his high energy, insecure and a bit nervous personality. He can react defensively towards big, bulky people by growling - it's a nervous, fearful behavior vs. aggressive/dominant behavior. He would do well in a home with children and another dog or with a experienced dog owner that can provide him with alot of exercise (e.g., agility training, running, cycling, herding) and attention. He does have a fairly strong prey drive and will chase anything that runs (dogs, cats, squirrels, birds, etc.). He does exhibit some resource guarding towards squeaky toys and treats, but only with other dogs. He's never exhibited aggressive, territorial or biting behavior towards me. He loves people, but he needs to understand about boundaries (e.g., jumping on people). He is a sweet, loving dog that needs a forever home that can provide him with alot of fun time exercise, discipline and security.
PIPPIN is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.

email us about Portland
Portland (4 yr old chowx) is a beautiful girl, I think she could win a beauty pageant. Too beautiful to be stuck out in a backyard where she has spent almost her entire life. We find this unacceptable so have made it our mission to find her another home where she will be un-conditionally loved. She's the nicest size, not too big, not too small, very sweet, quiet, well-behaved, not destructive, not demanding, appears good on leash. more...
She is very obedient, sits patiently waiting for you to come over and say hello but she also has a very playful side so she will not be boring. Her only drawback is she's not always docile around other dogs, she wants to be the 'Queen Bee' so probably better for everyone if she be the only 'bee' in the home.

Rocco is a loving and affectionate 8 month old American Staffordshire Terrier. Just look at his loving face. We just love his goofy expressions and floppy ears. He is wonderful with my small children ages 2 & 5. He is command trained (and even listens to commands from both of my kids.) and knows how to sit, stay and lay down. He is also leash trained and wears a collar or a harness. He is off the leash trained in our open yard and somewhat at the beach. He is socialized with other dogs but tends to play too rough with small dogs due to his size. Though his best buddy is a Pug. He loves to play and I know he would love a house that had another dog in it.
He is quite a character, and even sleeps in silly positions. He loves his dog bed but beware of a blanket on the floor cause he will lay on it!! He loves all bones and toys, put simply, he just loves to play. He is kennel trained and will sleep in the kennel at night but prefers to be out of course. He is up to date on all shots and has been neutered. He is a wonderful and silly dog. He enjoys playing fetch and will return the toy to you to throw again. He adores the beach but doesn't usually enter the water. He is great with baths and enjoys a good romp with a spraying hose. He is also a wonderful watch dog. If the screen door is open that's were he sits, to be ever watchful over our family. Rocco will be the perfect addition to your family.
The only issue we have with Rocco is his separation anxiety and fear of my husband. We adopted Rocco from another family about 3 months ago and have been trying so hard to kindle a loving relationship between him and my husband but with no success. We don't know his whole story but he's skittish around males. So we have decided to move him to a new home. We just don't think it is fair to keep him in a house where he feels threatened. So a home w/a single mom and children w/ another dog might be ideal.

Roxanne is a 3 yr old red nose pit bull, spayed, micro-chipped and current on shots, beautiful golden tan coat, nice medium size (60 lbs). House-broken, completely crate-trained, quiet, sweet, obedient (she potties when you tell her too.) playful, loves children, they can crawl all over her, tolerant of other dogs but best match would be a home w/1 or 2 males. She makes the most excellent "companion" for the boy dogs. You might even call her a flirt. However she's not necessarily a dog park dog. more...
She's a distinct personality (more than 1/2 human) with a young & pleasantly playful spirit. An excellent candidate for a FAMILY DOG dog as she is wonderful w/children of all ages (especially gentle w/babies.).
Definitely a 'morning' person, she always wakes up cheerful. She does her little 'morning dance' and lets you know she's ready to tackle the day, play in the yard and chase some squirrels. Easy to walk on leash unless she see's a cat or strange dog then she gets overly excited and needs firm correction but otherwise walks in heal position.
REPORT FROM HER FOSTER HOME: Roxanne (or as we called her Roxi) was such a delight to foster. She was awesome with my children, nieces and nephews which range from 9 months to 15 years. Roxi got along great with my two male pit bulls. And what a snuggler. She would love to just be cuddled up next to you. She is also a great watch dog. Every time someone came in who she didn't know she barked. It wasn't a mean aggressive bark, just a bark like 'hey whatcha doing bark'. Roxi does not compete for food with my other dogs. When I gave her treats I would say 'gentle' and she would take the treat very slow and gentle. She is really a very gentle, sweet, caring & loving dog. I hope she finds her forever home in time for the holidays. She deserves it. As she is such a great companion dog I would wish for her to go to a home w/ at least 1 or even 2 male dogs. However she's fussy about other females sometimes so NO DOG PARKS. Also, she is a cat chaser. Other than that she's just about perrrrfect.

email us about Shiloh
Shiloh is a very lovely and beautiful 2 yr old (approx 70 lbs) dog. She will be 2 years old in June 09. She's had some basic training, she knows "sit, down, heel, leave it". She is up to date on all her shots /spayed m/chipped. Shiloh is a very energetic and active dog whose main goal in life is to "play". She would do well w/outdoors activities to use up some of her pent up energy: dog walks, dog parks, hiking, jogging type sports. She is a larger breed and does better w/med - large dogs. more...
She has been to daycare and I've been told that she does well socializing with other dogs. Shiloh has never been around cats so I don't know how she reacts to them, but she will chase them.. She is house trained, will potty outside or on the newspaper if she is inside the house. She likes to dig in the grass in the backyard so be carefull not to leave her outside for too long or if she is inside the house and left alone she might chew things due to being bored. She is excellent with older kids but she is too big for toddlers.
Shiloh is signed up for a life time training program that was already paid for, so if the foster / adoptive family can take her to training that will better prepare her to find a forever home. She responds well to the training.

Squeakers was given the name “Squeakers” because when we heard him bark for the first time, he sounded like a little squeaking toy. He is a little over 7 months old and weighs about 9 pounds with all of his shots up to date. He needs a home right away because his family is leaving on Friday, 3/20/09! Please read on to see what his family says about him! He is a mystery mix, maybe part Terrier / Chihuahua , but people beg to differ because of his long legs. more...
He is black with a white chest and has a diamond shaped white spot on his forehead. He has stayed indoors and is partially potty trained. Squeakers is truly a lap dog. He loves to be snuggled and carried like a baby. He is loving, yet protective. He is quiet until strangers approach the door. He likes to play a lot and gets excited when you open the door when you come home. He can be a little high strung when he has been by himself for a while.
When it comes to treats, he will listen to your command. You tell him down and he will sit. I attempted to crate train him, but I think I failed... He can do walks on a leash but still needs to get a little more proficient He does well in the car, stays calm and will simply try to sit in your lap! Squeakers loves to play with toys, he especially likes all the ones that squeak! (maybe THAT's where he got his name)? He hasn’t interacted much with other dogs or cats but would probably be fine (we will evaluate a little furthur)! He's very eager around children because he loves to play so much! He is a VERY adoptable liitle guy, sweet and adorable, & deserves the kind of home that will win his un-dying affection and loyalty.

Sydney: chow-kelpie mix; spayed female; 35 pounds ; 1 1/2 years old. Don't let this girl's initial reserved demeanor fool you. Give her just a little time and she will charm you with her sweet and gentle affection and show you what a unique personality she has. Sydney really has alot going for her. Her chow side makes her a well-mannered and fastidious house "guest" She is neat, housebroken and does not chew. She is also completely crate-trained. more...
She is the kind that is good w/both dogs & cats. Outside, Sydney shows the herding side of herself....she loves to run and chase other dogs; she is quite nimble and agile; loves to play with toys and to bound through the yard with speed and joy. She enjoys hiking and is also good off-leash and easy to walk on leash. And is a good candidate for the dog park. Sydney is quite intelligent and alert but also has a sensitive side....does better with positive praise than any kind of strong correction. She is a quick learner and we think will respond really well to formal training. Please consider making this great dog a part of your family. |

email us about Taki
Taki (her name is Polish for "Nice") is a six month old winsome pit bull going on 35 pounds. She is mostly brindle with a broad white collar and bib. She is very energetic, a spontaneous player and loves hugs and gentle wrestling. When she wants to rest she loves a warm lap or a sunny spot on the porch. Although she much prefers to snuggle on her foster human's bed Taki sleeps in a crate at night and is on her way to good crate behavior. more...
Taki came to us at four months of age. She was out on the streets apparently abandoned. She was healthy except for a mild case of demodectic mange that cleared up with medication. She is now fully coated. Taki is very sociable with people and dogs of all sizes. She is quiet in the house but sometimes barks, in a nice sort of way, to get attention. She is now a regular dog park junkie, she greets and plays well with other dogs. She gets many compliments for being "cute." She has yet to meet a cat, her one time sighting of a squirrel did not spur a chase. She may be able to get along with a dog friendly cat, even though pit pulls are notorious for being chasers.
Taki is a tuffy, plays long and hard, always ready to chase a ball or "attack" a toy – she runs and jumps carrying her stuffed animal toys. She has learned to sit nicely and lie down for treats. She also likes to call your bluff and refuses to sit when she knows you don't have a treat. She's smart and sensitive, a good class in manners training will make her a wonderful house dog and companion.
She can be trusted anywhere in the house, is house-broken, and goes enthusiastically out in the back yard. While waiting for adoption Taki is being fostered with a 14 year old female pit bull mix and 7 year old male chocolate labby. The female taught her to respect her elders and the male tolerated her rambunctious antics. Taki is showing signs when on leash that she will become a good leash walker as she matures but she is still too young to overcome her excitement when going for an outing. Her new human companion will be kept busy with Taki, but it will be the work of love!

email us about Tigre
Tigre (2 1 / 2 yr old 75 lbs) is not really a tiger, he's just a big pussycat. Don't let his bark confuse you, he is totally happy to meet new people and is exhuberent when you come over to play. Plus he's bi-lingual so he understands Spanish. He's living down the street from us in a small 1 BR studio w/no backyard so it's a little cramped. Our group did donate a small dog run so he can have some outdoor time but he really needs a yard to be "free" to be a dog. more...
He is excellent w/small dogs, he lives w/a chi hua hua and so he can go to a home w/other animals. It would probably be nice for him to have the company. Also a good family dog but older children w/be better, only because he can get jumpy when he's excited. And as with all strong dogs, he does need basic leash training.
We know there are alot of pitbulls needing homes but he is special and we wish to see him get a better quality of life.
